Agricultural council of Tanzania - The voice of voiceless farmers
The Agricultural Council of Tanzania (ACT) has turned to be an important cornerstone for Agricultural private sector lobbying and advocacy for development of farming in a country, the mainstay of the Economy. It is used to get subvention from the government coffers. Today the organization enjoy financial support, mainly from the Best-dialogue, a multi funded program aimed at ease of doing business, The Norwegian-funded, Tanzania agricultural partnership (TAP) and from the southern African agricultural organization (SAAO).Through the push from ACT in the financial year 2000/2001 and the following year the government spent 2.1 to 7.7 percent 2010/2011 on the agriculture sector nationwide. Also ACT engaging with different government institutions like Tanzania Investment centre (TIC) in order to remove those obstacles that hinder the climate of doing business like taxes reduction and improving the general agribusiness policy.
