New pyrethrum buyers denied licences
This newspaper article reports about pyrethrum licenses to buyers in Tanzania. The Tanzania Pyrethrum Board (TPB) came under fire for denying other buyers licenses to buy the crop during 2011/2012 buying season. Farmers have shown doubts over the board’s decision. The coming of other players in the pyrethrum buying market has raised pyrethrum price from 700/= to 1800/=. The government was argued to intervene in order to rescue the situation.
