Agricultural technology economic viability and poverty alleviation in Tanzania
Abstract
Developments in agricultural technology are known to increase productivity and income for farmers. This study looks into the factors causing the low adoption of new technology. Specifically, it seeks to identify profitable technologies for adoption by farmers, and highlight any policy recommendations that can improve adoption and/or profitability. Results indicate the following technologies are of interest; improved maize and bean varieties, animal draught technology, and dairy farming. The benefits and drawbacks associated with each technology are provided with recommendations on how to overcome the challenges.
